Top 10 Campaigns of 2012

This list is just a small sample of the numerous amazing campaigns we saw on Crowdtilt  last year. Many of our campaigns are private and therefore cannot be featured here (If you’d like to share your campaign, because it’s awesome and should belong on this list, please add it to the comments below!!).

Thank you for showing us how many people you could possibly cram into a party bus, house party, ski lodge, hotel room or any other place you deemed appropriate to have a good time.

Here we go:

How long does it take to get 450 people to commit to a Halloween party on a three story mega yacht, with two dancefloors, DJs, open bars and a night to remember? Less than 2 days!! Check out the pictures from this unforgettable night here.

In May, more than 75 friends came together to celebrate the start of the summer with a Vegas themed pool party, live music, and food/drinks. Best of all, all the proceeds from this event went straight to the Salvation Army.

Proving that businesses can also use Crowdtilt, this creative bicycle store raffled away tickets to the unknown contents of a mysterious safe that was found in the wall of the store during its initial renovation. You won’t believe what was in the safe, find out here.

Just by watching her quick video, you’ll see Sarah’s excitement, kindness, and passion for music. While contributors received a copy of her CD, proceeds from additional sales went to an orphanage in Uganda.

What could have turned into one of the biggest nightmares for an international student, became a true testament to the compassion of his classmates at Vanderbilt University. Within a mere 24 hours, Ayodele’s friends raised more than $10,000 to keep him in school. Go Commodores!!

Being a teenage boy is hard enough, and should not be further strained by medical complications. In order to cover some of Evan’s upcoming medical costs, his family ran a fundraiser on Crowdtilt and was able to find support from friends and relatives.

This Los Angeles group brought hundreds of friends together for probably the biggest (informal) beer pong tournament ever organized. El Clasico!! (Make sure to check out the video). If you live in the LA area and would like to join next time, take a look at their Facebook group.

It took just a couple of hours to convince 150 people that a private plane, personal limos, and the Hugh Hefner Playboy suite at the Palms in Las Vegas, was the best way to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style.

Faced with the potential closing of their school, due to a lack of funding, the staff and parents took matters into their own hands and raised $99K in a matter of a few weeks. The school remained open throughout the year and an update to the campaign was posted recently.

In order to reinstate the science program for first through third grade students, parents at the Weilenmann School of Discovery raised enough money to cover the science teacher’s salary for a year.

Inspiring though it is, this list leaves out many other fundraisers we’ve seen on our site which have invaluably impacted people’s lives: Breaking-GoodHelp Karl Kessel Keep His Comic CollectionDonations for Captain Klein, Don’t Mess With the Internet and many more.

All in all, 2012 was an exciting year for Crowdtilt. Since launching in February, we’ve watched all these amazing campaigns and more find their place on our site. In the meantime, we hit major and exciting milestones: a partnership with reddit, the addition of non-profit fundraising capability, and our API launch toward the end of the year.

Thank you for all of your support! We can’t wait to see what this new year has in store for you all :)
