#GivingTuesday 2014 with Tilt

**UPDATE! Thanks to your generosity, Baby Claire’s campaign not only Tilted but surpassed its goal of $10,000**

I want to tell you a quick story about how I first discovered Tilt. Back in February, I was sitting in San Francisco, having a coffee with a friend and we were brainstorming our purpose and some ways that we could be useful to the world.  She pulled out her iPhone and said, “here, look at this.”

She opened up Tilt’s iPhone app, browsed her feed and within one minute was able to donate and help get a service dog for Sam.  I was blown away!  Frictionless charity is what I kept thinking.  I thought it was so cool that I told everyone I ran into that day and the next.  In fact, this conversation was the seed that encouraged me to apply to Tilt and join their amazing team.  Rather than buying a coffee I didn’t really need, I could help someone in need.  What a beautiful thing.

Today is #GivingTuesday, and I encourage you to take that same approach and support something, anything that makes the world a better place, just like my friend did back in February.  Make it happen. You have the power to change a life today! If you need some inspiration, here are some campaigns we think would really benefit from your love and attention.

Entrepreneurs Without Borders

A majority of us can’t imagine what it would feel like to be ripped away from family and loved ones. In Uganda, Africa, thousands of refugees know this pain all too well. The United Nations Refugee Agency is helping open the doors of economic opportunity for more people in the Nakivale Refugee settlement by fostering entrepreneurship and providing skills training. Your funds will be used to help create self-fulfilling programs that teach refugees the skills they need to become positive and contributing members to society once again.

#GiveAMeal to healthcare workers in Sierra Leone

Meet LunchBoxGift.

During a country-wide lockdown in Sierra Leone in September, LunchBoxGift’s 12-person team was on the ground and prepared and delivered 2,600 freshly cooked meals to Ebola patients and frontline healthcare workers. Memuna Janneh, a Sierra Leonean woman based in London, started LunchBoxGift because she could not bear to sit on the sidelines and felt the need to do her part. This Tilt campaign’s success will enable LunchBoxGift to deliver an additional 50,000 meals over the next three months.

Be part of that positivity!

Help Baby Claire

IMG_1120

Parents, prepare to have your heart strings pulled.  Back in September, Marta and Eric Ebels gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Claire.  Unfortunately, Claire needed life saving heart seven days after she was born.

Having spent most her life in the ICU, Claire’s family is raising money to pay for medical bills and to help her mother Marta take maternity leave.

Being the parent of precious child who spent the first 8 days of his life in the ICU, I can only imagine what Eric and Marta have been though.  Parents do not want their children to spend minutes, let alone months in the ICU.  Kick-off the spirit of giving by making a difference in Claire’s life today.
